Do I have to have health insurance in North Jersey?

Yes. Most residents in Essex, Hudson, and across the state must have coverage or pay a penalty at tax time. We explain your notice and your options.

Don’t I earn too much to qualify?

Maybe not. NJ Health Plan Savings reaches households up to 600% of the federal poverty level, well past federal limits.

Can I enroll now?

Only after a life change, like losing coverage, a new baby, marriage or a move. You usually have 60 days. Otherwise, Open Enrollment for 2027 starts November 1.

Do I need to be a U.S. citizen?

No. Lawfully present immigrants can enroll and may get help paying. In mixed-status families, eligible members can be covered. We only ask what’s needed, with your permission.
