Plan structure

Two separate policies. Four levels.

Sickness and Accident policies, plus optional Wellness. Every level has a $0 annual deductible and 50% coinsurance. Each policy has its own MOOP (individual / family), never one combined cap.

  • $2,500 / $5,000

Elite. Individual and family maximum out of pocket, on each policy separately. $0 annual deductible, 50% coinsurance.

  • $5,000 / $10,000

Secure. Individual and family maximum out of pocket, on each policy separately. $0 annual deductible, 50% coinsurance.

  • $7,500 / $15,000

Value. Individual and family maximum out of pocket, on each policy separately. $0 annual deductible, 50% coinsurance.

  • $10,000 / $20,000

Essential. Individual and family maximum out of pocket, on each policy separately. $0 annual deductible, 50% coinsurance.

  • Two MOOPs

Sickness and Accident are separate policies and each one has its own maximum out of pocket. There is never one combined cap across the two.

  • $0 deductible

On every level — and it does not mean free care. Members pay 50% coinsurance up to each policy’s separate MOOP.

Compare the four levels

There is no overall policy maximum, but specific limits, exclusions and waiting periods apply. Optional Wellness pays scheduled amounts. Maternity has a separate first-year deductible. Agent education only — availability, eligibility and full policy terms apply. Source: Presidio’s plan table.

The carrier

Who is
Presidio?

Three things to be able to say accurately before FortressPlan comes up in a client conversation: what it is, who may apply, and who does what.

  • Real insurance

    Not a health share

Presidio is a faith-based, pro-life insurer. FortressPlan is insurance — not a healthcare sharing ministry.

  • Any faith

    No statement of faith

Any faith or no faith may apply, subject to eligibility. There is no statement of faith to sign.

  • Two roles

    Trainer and insurer

Madrinas trains agents. Presidio is the insurer. Neither role is the other, and this page is published by Madrinas.

Guaranteed renewable as the brochure describes it.

That is not a fixed premium and not unconditional lifetime coverage — premiums can change and termination provisions still apply.

FortressPlan is non-ACA insurance from Presidio. It is not major medical and not Minimum Essential Coverage.
Available in Texas only. Agent education only — availability, eligibility and full policy terms apply.

Cost
example

An individual on Secure has $20,000 in covered sickness costs and $8,000 in covered accident costs. Each policy has its own MOOP, so the two are worked separately and never added into one cap.

  • Sickness: the 50% share reaches the $5,000 Sickness MOOP.
  • Accident: 50% of $8,000 is $4,000.
  • Member share: about $9,000.
  • Assumes all costs are covered and allowable, no earlier accumulation or rollover, and no maternity deductible. Premiums and noncovered costs are not included. Teaching example only — not a quote and not a coverage decision.

Fit and non-fit

Right for your client?

FortressPlan is medically underwritten, so the answer is a real yes or a real no — and knowing the no is what keeps you from misdescribing a non-ACA product.

Who it fits

Clients evaluating a non-ACA option who pass medical underwriting.

Who it is not for

Anyone who needs day-one pre-existing coverage, guaranteed acceptance, ACA protections, current pregnancy coverage, or one combined out-of-pocket cap.

Anyone who needs coverage for contraception, abortifacients, in vitro fertilization, gender-transition treatment or euthanasia, which FortressPlan does not cover.

To apply

64 or younger at the effective date; under 18 applies with a parent or guardian; not pregnant; tobacco four times a month or less; valid SSN or ITIN at application.

What makes an applicant ineligible

Listed health conditions, even past ones, make an applicant ineligible. Pre-existing conditions have a 12-month look-back and are not covered the first 12 months. Presidio may check prescription and medical records.

What you must never promise

Never promise approval. Applications are accepted year-round with no enrollment period, but that is subject to eligibility and medical underwriting — fast to read is not fast to approve, and there is no same-day or guaranteed approval to offer. Agent education only. Availability, eligibility and full policy terms apply.

Quick answers

Is this an ACA plan or a health share, and where can I sell it?

No to both. FortressPlan is non-ACA insurance from Presidio. It is not major medical, not Minimum Essential Coverage, and not a healthcare sharing ministry. It is available in Texas only. Check your license and appointment first.

Who is it for, and who is it not for?

It may fit clients evaluating a non-ACA option who pass medical underwriting. It is not for anyone who needs day-one pre-existing coverage, guaranteed acceptance, ACA protections, current pregnancy coverage, or one combined out-of-pocket cap.

Does a $0 deductible mean free care?

No. Members pay 50% coinsurance up to each policy’s separate MOOP. There is no overall policy maximum, but specific limits, exclusions, and waiting periods apply. Check First Health provider participation and covered drugs. Optional Wellness pays scheduled amounts, and not all virtual care is free. Maternity has a separate first-year deductible. Guaranteed renewable, but premiums can change.
