The state’s own health insurance marketplace. Illinois moved off
HealthCare.gov for 2026, so this is where you now compare plans, find out what help you qualify for,
and enroll. Same coverage, same financial help - a different front door.
Expecting? Enroll any time
Pregnancy opens an enrollment window in Illinois whatever the date, so
you do not have to wait for open enrollment. Your madrina can start your application now, in Spanish
or English.
The tax-return box
Checking the health coverage box on your Illinois tax return lets the
state tell you whether you qualify for help. If you checked it, you may already have a head start.
Agents are paid by the insurance company, not by you. Talking to a madrina does not
sign you up for anything - you decide. Ask a madrina your questions first. No obligation.
1
Tell us a little
Name, phone, and ZIP. That is all to start.
2
Talk to your madrina
She checks what you qualify for and answers your questions, in Spanish or
English. Free.
3
Get covered
If you want to move forward, she fills out the Get Covered Illinois forms with
you and gets you enrolled.
I never acted on my Get Covered Illinois notice. Am I still covered?
If you never claimed your Get Covered Illinois account, you may no longer have
coverage. A madrina can check your status and walk you through the fix.
Can I still use HealthCare.gov in Illinois?
Illinois no longer uses HealthCare.gov. Starting with 2026 plans, every Illinois
enrollment and renewal happens on Get Covered Illinois.
Will my plan renew automatically on Get Covered Illinois?
Your plan may not renew the hands-off way HealthCare.gov did. Check your Get
Covered Illinois account during Open Enrollment, or ask a madrina to review it with you.
Will talking to a madrina change the coverage I have now?
Talking to a madrina does not change your coverage. Nothing on your plan changes
unless you approve it.
Is it too late to get covered?
You can still enroll during Open Enrollment, which starts November 1, 2026. After
a job change, move, marriage, birth, or lost coverage, you usually get 60 days.
I’m pregnant. Do I have to wait for Open Enrollment?
Illinois has a special enrollment period for pregnancy, so you may not need to
wait for Open Enrollment. A madrina can confirm your window and deadline.
Can I get help paying for my plan?
You may qualify for federal savings that lower what you pay each month. Illinois
offers no separate state subsidy, so a madrina checks which federal help fits your income.
Does it cost anything to talk to a madrina?
Your consultation with a madrina is free, in English or Spanish. You get clear
answers on your options before you choose any plan.
Sound like you?
These are the most common situations Illinois families face this year.
Illinois left HealthCare.gov. Your plan moved to Get Covered Illinois
- and so did your deadlines. Deadlines nobody told you about.
Lost Medicaid
You lost Medicaid after your income changed, and now you have no coverage.
Think it costs too much
You have skipped health insurance because you think it costs too much.
Confusing forms
The forms are confusing, full of terms you have never seen, and you do not know
who to trust.

What families say about their madrina
Sandra is the best insurance agent! Very compassionate and understanding.
Always there and ready to help. Very hard working employee.
This is my second year using this company for health care insurance through my
agent Rosmari Carrera, and I must say that I’m very happy with the service. Rosmari is the best
when it comes to customer service and assistance with helping you get the best insurance for you.
Highly recommended.
Las Madrinas is a great place to get all the information and help needed to
obtain healthcare coverage. They also have so many other services including Life Insurance and
supplemental.
to begin with, here in Miami it is very difficult to get someone who is
responsible, educated, transparent, and professional when you try to seek health insurance, LAS
MADRINAS, meet all those qualities. from the moment you sit down or call your call center you know you
are in the right place....
